The Piaggio Vespa 50 L (V5A1T) debuted in 1966, being a more luxurious variant of the 50 N version. It had an improved chassis, a double seat and aluminum edge protection on the leg guard. From late 1967, a new hexagonal Piaggio emblem was placed on top of the cascade, which has since been used throughout the vehicle range. The Italian brand’s 50s had been offered since 1963, expanding its range of scooters, whose engine capacities had previously ranged from 125 to 160 cc. Italian regulations defined the 50 as a moped, so that you didn’t need a driver’s license to drive it, only to turn 14. This translated into huge popularity of this stylish model. Today, such a scooter can be a collector’s item, but it can also be used for stylish travel around town during the summer season.
